Frequently asked questions
How many pages is 1,000 words?
About 4 pages double-spaced or 2 pages single-spaced, using 12pt Times New Roman with standard 1-inch margins.
How many pages is 1,500 words double spaced?
About 6 pages in 12pt Times New Roman. Single-spaced it is about 3 pages.
How many words fit on one page?
The standard convention is about 500 words per single-spaced page and 250 words per double-spaced page (12pt Times New Roman, 1-inch margins). Larger fonts, wider fonts like Arial, and headings all lower that number.
Does the font really change the page count?
Yes — Arial and Verdana are wider than Times New Roman, so the same words fill more pages. Switching 12pt Times to 12pt Arial adds roughly 5–10% more pages; Verdana adds ~20%.
How many pages is a 2,000 word essay?
About 8 pages double-spaced or 4 pages single-spaced at 12pt Times New Roman. At 1.5 spacing it is about 6 pages.
Method: standard formatting convention of ≈500 words per single-spaced page (12pt Times New Roman, 1-inch margins), adjusted proportionally for spacing, font width and size. Actual counts vary with margins, paragraphs and headings — treat results as estimates.
